Funeral prayers for servicemen martyred in the crash of a Pakistan Army Mi-17 helicopter near Muzaffarabad were offered on Thursday, military media said.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that the funeral prayers were offered at Chaklala Garrison in Rawalpindi.
It was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defense Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, senior civil and military officials, relatives of the martyrs and members of the public.

Earlier, the funeral of two Christian soldiers who were martyred in the incident was also held at the Christ Church in Rawalpindi, in the presence of political and military leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz paid homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
“The dedication of the martyrs, their professionalism and their commitment to safeguarding the homeland will remain a source of inspiration for future generations,” he said.
While emphasizing that the sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces for peace, security and national sovereignty can never be forgotten, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the nation’s unwavering support to the families of the martyrs during this difficult time.
The ISPR said the martyrs would be laid to rest in their respective hometowns with full military honours.
The helicopter crashed near Muzaffarabad on Wednesday during takeoff due to a technical glitch, leading to the martyrdom of all personnel on board, army media said.
According to the ISPR, there were no survivors in the accident.
Rescue and recovery teams were rushed to the spot immediately after the accident and reached the area to begin rescue and recovery operations.
“A commission of inquiry has been ordered to determine the exact technical cause of the accident,” the press release added.
