Cam Skattebo became a cult hero in the tri-state area, catapulting himself to become the New York Giants’ best running back.

Skattebo found the end zone seven times in as many games, but early in his eighth he suffered a gruesome injury that required emergency surgery. The running back suffered torn ligaments during a dislocated ankle, leading to a complex injury and rebroadcasts unsuitable for television.

February 19 will mark four months since the injury, but Skattebo – without any radio doubles – is ready to go back to being just a football player.

“I feel good. I’m healthy, after a few months, so I’m starting to forget about that, get over the tough times and get back to work,” Skattebo told PK Press Club Digital.

Many players have unfortunately suffered injuries similar to Skattebo’s, but it was San Francisco 49ers star Fred Warner that Skattebo sought advice from. Warner was seriously injured just a week before Skattebo.

CHRISTIAN MCCAFFREY REFLECTS ON 2025 SUCCESS AFTER AN INJURY-PROGRESSED 2024 SEASON: “THANK GOD”

“I talked to him several times about what he was doing and how he was doing it. You know, he obviously came back pretty quickly and my situation was different,” Skattebo said. “We had finished the season and had no playoff hopes.

“So the way he pushed himself, I wanted to do the same thing, you know, even though I didn’t have a season to look forward to, I still wanted to be in the same situation. So he was a really big asset for me.”

Tyrone Tracy filled in for Skattebo pretty well after the injury, so the G-Men will most certainly have a two-headed monster next season.
