- Nothing launches its latest affordable Android phones
- The Phone (4a) and (4a) Pro bring upgrades across the board…
- …and there are some fun colors to see
A day after the colorful MacBook Neo turned heads with never-before-seen hues, the vibrant tech party continued with the Nothing Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro, which were just unveiled alongside the affordable Nothing Headphone (a). Well, sort of revealed, because the brand has teased them for ages before.
These two new shoo-ins for our best Android phones list bring upgrades to the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro and its relatives, and replace a phone (4) that the company doesn’t plan to release this year. They’re using new materials to be more durable, updated their software, and are redesigning the trademark bright, colorful glyph bar with a new recording light. You can read our full thoughts in our Nothing Phone (4a) review.
The standard model has a new periscope camera with zoom up to 3.5x, more than the 2x of the (3a), and more pixels on the screen to increase the resolution to 1.5K. The pixel count of 440 is higher than any phone I can think of recently, and brightness also maxes out at a blinding 4,500 nits.
Other highlights are the new Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset that powers the device, a larger 5,080mAh battery, and a wider range of recycled materials used in the phone’s construction.
Not everything is an upgrade, though, with the same 50W charging, unchanged camera resolutions (50 MP on the main and zoom, 8 MP on the ultrawide, and 32 MP on the front) and a screen that’s only 0.01 inch larger at 6.78 inches diagonal.
For me, though, the best part of the phone is its looks…
A colorful phone, but perhaps difficult to buy
I briefly got to see the Nothing Phone (4a) before its release at MWC 2026, and I couldn’t help but think that the two models shown above were the most eye-catching technology of the week (no offense, Apple, but if you’re going to do color, don’t make it pale and washed out!). I wasn’t able to test the devices, so wait for our full testing coverage later, but I was able to see all four models in display cases.
The black-and-white models looked like the standard versions of Nothing, although the company’s phones can seem “standard”: they are robot-shaped devices with transparent elements.
What really caught my eye were the two colorful models, as a light blue and a pink device are also arriving. These look a lot more fun than your basic smartphone, and at MWC it was clear that these were the versions everyone couldn’t take their eyes off.
Unfortunately, not everyone can afford these colorful options, as phone availability varies. The Phone (4a) and Pro will both go on sale in the UK, but in the US the standard model will not go on sale, while in Australia the Pro will launch at a later date. You can sign up to be notified via the Nothing AU website.
The Nothing Phone (4a) starts at £349 / AU$649 (around $400) while the Phone (4a) Pro starts at $499 / £499 / AU$949, with prices rising for additional storage and RAM.
