Both ministers agree that terrorist camps and drug production in Afghanistan ‘pose serious security challenges for the region’
ISLAMABAD:
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi signed agreements with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Kolokoltsev on Saturday to strengthen cooperation on illegal immigration, repatriation of citizens residing illegally and the fight against narcotics.
According to the Interior Ministry, the signing took place during one of five separate bilateral meetings held by Naqvi with his counterparts from Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
During his meeting with Tajikistan Interior Minister Ramazan Rahim Zada, discussions focused on terrorist camps inside Afghanistan, noting that there are currently 25 different terrorist organizations active in Afghanistan.
The two ministers agreed that terrorist camps and drug production in Afghanistan “pose serious security challenges for the region.” Naqvi’s meeting with Uzbek Interior Minister General Aziz Tashpulatov focused on cooperation between law enforcement agencies.
