Two officers martyred in PAF trainer plane crash near Mardan: ISPR

A commission of inquiry was constituted by the Air Headquarters to determine the cause of the accident.

Two pilots were killed on Monday when a Super Mushshak trainer aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force, during a routine training sorties, crashed near Mardan in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the army’s media wing said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the pilots were identified as Flight Lieutenant Muhammad Qasim Abdullah of the Pakistan Air Force, who was an instructor pilot, and Lieutenant Taha Abbasi of the Pakistan Navy, who was a trainee officer.

The ISPR said, “An inquiry committee has been constituted by the Air Headquarters to ascertain the cause of the accident. »

Chief of Defense Force and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, along with service chiefs and all ranks of the Pakistan Armed Forces, expressed deep sadness over the loss of lives and offered condolences to the bereaved families, according to ISPR.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sadness over the accident and offered condolences over the death of two officers in the incident, in a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

He prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the deceased and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families. He further said that the professionalism of the Pakistani armed forces in defending the country remains “unprecedented”.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in a statement, expressed sadness over the crash of the training plane and paid tribute to the two pilots killed. He described Captain Qasim and Captain Talha as martyrs and honored their sacrifice.

The Minister of the Interior also presented his sincere condolences to the families of the deceased pilots and expressed his solidarity with them.

On June 10, a Pakistan Army Mi-17 helicopter crashed near Muzaffarabad during takeoff due to a technical problem, resulting in the martyrdom of all personnel on board.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations, there were no survivors in the accident. Rescue and recovery teams were rushed to the site immediately after the accident and reached the area to begin rescue and recovery operations, the statement added.

“A commission of inquiry has been ordered to determine the exact technical cause of the accident,” the press release added.
