As the largest ever edition of a global showcase, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the first tournament hosted by three countries – the United States, Mexico and Canada – with 48 teams competing in 16 host cities. Here’s what you need to know about the tournament:

Spread across three countries, the tournament will culminate with the final on July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. All 104 tournament games will be broadcast live on FOX (70) and FS1 (34), with each game streamed live and on-demand in the FOX One and FOX Sports apps. A record 40 games, more than a third of the tournament, will be broadcast in prime time on FOX (21) and FS1 (19).

The June 11 opening match between Mexico and South Africa (3 p.m. ET) will be streamed for free on Tubi, along with the United States’ opening match against Paraguay on June 12 (9 p.m. ET).

Who will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup?

For the first time, three countries will host the World Cup: the United States, Canada and Mexico. Only once in the history of the tournament have there been co-hosts, the 2002 edition being held in South Korea and Japan.

Eleven cities will host the tournament in the United States, including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, Seattle and the San Francisco Bay Area. Canadian cities Toronto and Vancouver will also host matches with three Mexican cities – Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City – also included.

For 2026, the majority of 104 matches will take place in the United States, with 78 matches spread across 11 cities. Canada (two cities) and Mexico (three cities) will each play 13 matches.
