Beef season 2 (Netflix)
Look on it
Did you think season 1 of this multi-award winning series was messy? Oh honey, you have something else coming. Beef Season 2 has a complete shift in tone and storytelling from what we’ve seen before.

This time, it follows the slowly unfolding chaos at a country club run by slimy manager Josh (Oscar Isaacs) and his wife Lindsay (Carey Mulligan). After witnessing a fight between their boss, young employees Ashley (Cailee Spaeny) and Austin (Charles Melton) decide to blackmail Josh into getting health insurance…and everything goes downhill from there.
Surprisingly, I haven’t even mentioned the real star of the series: Youn Yuh-jung as the evil president. She barely speaks, but when she does, it’s stinging gold. Once you stream it, read my Beef piece explained at the end of season 2. — Jasmine Valentine, entertainment journalist
Balls in the air (Prime Video)
Look on it
Where has Marky Dubs (that’s my new nickname for Mark Wahlberg) been lately? Luckily, he’s back in a steamy new sports comedy from Amazon Balls in the air.
After causing an international incident during the World Cup final, fellow rivals (Wahlberg and Paul Walter Hauser) must find a way to get out of Brazil alive.
As the name suggests, we’re going to get a healthy dose of pure sports silliness with this movie. In their defense, who really knows how football works? Kick a ball and be done with it. [editor’s note: I hope you’re ready for emails from aggrieved soccer fans over that comment, Jasmine!] — Joint venture
Margo has money problems (Apple TV)
Look on it
Elle Fanning leads the cast of Margo has money problemsa new drama series on Apple TV that has been praised for its funny yet heartfelt story.
The aforementioned star plays the show’s eponymous character, who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant after an affair with her married English teacher. Desperate to support herself, Margo turns to OnlyFans to support herself and her baby, while receiving unexpected advice from her former professional wrestler father (Nick Offerman), a former professional wrestler, and her former Hooters waitress mother (Michelle Pfeiffer),
Episodes 1-3 of this Apple TV Original are available now and are worth checking out if you’re looking for a raunchy but endearing comedy. — Lucy Buglas, senior entertainment editor
Family Rental (Disney+)
Look on it
After launching on Hulu in the US earlier this year, Brendan Fraser’s latest film has finally made its international streaming debut on Disney+.
In Family RentalFraser plays Phillip, a struggling American actor living in Japan. Seven years after his one and only experience in the entertainment business, Phillip lands a job at the eponymous company, which tasks its employees with playing the role of a substitute family member for strangers young and old.
Armed with another incredible, likeable and typically emotional performance from Fraser, who is ably supported by Searchlight Pictures’ supporting cast, Family Rental will make you laugh one moment and cry the next. A must-have for any Fraser fanatic. — TP
Roommates (Netflix)
Look on it
This new Netflix film stars Sadie Sandler as Devon, a hopeful and naive freshman, who asks cool and confident Celeste (Chloe East) to be his new roommate. However, their budding friendship soon takes a bad turn.
The two find themselves in a “war of passive aggression” according to the synopsis, so we can expect plenty of drama as Devon’s plans for an easy semester are ruined.
Roommates has a great supporting cast, including Sadie’s famous father Adam Sandler, Natasha Lyonne, and Storm Reid, all of whom witness the huge fallout between the two leading ladies. Will he have enough to join the crowd of must-see college comedies on Mount Olympus? You will be the judge. — kg
Roofer (Paramount+)
Look on it
What if I told you that a man who was imprisoned for robbing up to 60 McDonald’s restaurants, then escaped from prison by hiding out at a local Toys ‘R’ Us for six months, was a true story?
Well, it is, and Channing Tatum’s hit movie Roofer which finally debuted with Paramount+ internationally after its December 2025 launch in the United States, is proof of this. He plays Jeffrey Manchester, a man on the run in the most ridiculous way. If you’re a ’90s kid, prepare yourself for lots of flashbacks.
Roofer is disarming, goofy, and a lot of fun, although I worry about Tatum’s liver if he really had to eat that many M&Ms. Interested in checking it out? Read my Roofer review first to see if it’s worth it. — Joint venture
The Dark Wizard (HBO Max)
The dark wizard is a new documentary series from HBO Max that explores the life of legendary free climber Dean Potter, known for completing many difficult first ascents, solo free ascents, and rapid ascents during his career before his untimely death at just 43 years old.
Over the course of its four episodes, we learn about Potter’s extraordinary exploits, his personal relationships and his many rivalries, including with fellow free solo climber Alex Honnold, who recently scaled the world’s tallest skyscraper live on Netflix. — kg
