Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for his first state visit.
He arrived at Nur Khan Air Base and was received by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The Kazakh president was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior ministers and other officials.
He is expected to hold high-level meetings with senior government officials and also address the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum.
The Foreign Ministry had previously said the visit would provide both sides with an “important and timely opportunity to undertake a comprehensive review of bilateral relations”, discuss new avenues for expanding cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, logistics, regional connectivity, people-to-people contacts, and explore collaboration in regional and international forums.
FO said the visit reflected the strengthening ties between the two countries, their mutual commitment to transforming historical and cultural affinities into robust cooperation, and their common desire for peace and progress in the region.
