- ShinyHunters says it exploited Anodot breach to hit Rockstar Games
- Group demands ransom by April 14, 2026 or disclose stolen files
- Rockstar confirms access to non-hardware data is limited, with no impact on players
Rockstar Games is the latest victim to have its data stolen in the Anodot supply chain attack carried out by cybercrime gang ShinyHunters against “dozens of companies”.
ShinyHunters is giving Rockstar until April 14 to pay the ransom demand, otherwise they will publish the stolen files on the dark web. However, if you were hoping that scammers would release the source code or a demo version of the game, that probably won’t happen.
Rockstar confirmed the violation to The Cybersecurity Guruclaiming that the stolen data wasn’t really important, emphasizing that “this incident has no impact on our organization or our players.”

“No impact”
“We can confirm that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed as part of a third-party data breach,” the company said.
Unfortunately, until ShinyHunters releases the data or Rockstar provides more details, it’s impossible to know what the nature of the files actually is, or if they contain sensitive or contact data.
News recently broke that Anodot, an AI-powered cloud-based analytics platform, had been hacked by the infamous ShinyHunters ransomware group. The criminals managed to find the company’s authentication tokens, which allowed them to access Snowflake customer accounts.
They also attempted to access Salesforce accounts, but were apparently blocked before they could do so.
“Rockstar Games, your Snowflake instances have been compromised thanks to Anodot.com. Pay or leak,” ShinyHunters reportedly told the company.
“This is a final warning to be given before April 14, 2026 before a leak, as well as several annoying (digital) problems that will come your way. Make the right decision, don’t make the headlines.”
For those unfamiliar with the name, Rockstar is behind some of the biggest names in the gaming industry, such as Grand Theft Auto (GTA), Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne, and many more.
He is currently working on GTA VI, which is scheduled for release in late 2026, arguably one of the biggest and most anticipated game launches of the decade.
ShinyHunters has been active in the cybercrime space for some time, with past targets including Microsoft, Ticketmaster, Cisco, and AT&T.
