Ryan Lochte’s divorce turned ugly as his ex and new girlfriend bicker

An Olympic gold medalist’s divorce emerges.

Ryan Lochte and his estranged wife, Kayla Reid, announced last summer that they were divorcing after seven years of marriage.

They have three children together and Lochte has since been dating Molly Gillihan.

And it becomes pretty clear that the women don’t love each other – and Lochte doesn’t love his ex-wife either.

In an Instagram Story posted by Reid, Lochte allegedly sent an email to Reid telling her that his new girlfriend was a “ten times better mother” than her.

“Look at the offer I just sent to your lawyer and continue your life as a gold prospector,” the former swimmer appears to say in his email with the subject line “Re: Kids.”

“This is what I deal with every day,” Reid wrote above the email on his Instagram Story, via the New York Post.

“This is after checking on our 2 year old with strep throat. This is the tip of the iceberg and I’m exhausted. My heart goes out to anyone in a similar situation. Tired of continually being disrespected behind closed doors. Literally 2/1000 posts.”

This prompted Gillihan to refer to Reid as a “child”, while adding harsh allegations about one of the children.

“My response? Every text and every DM… Every magazine. I’m sorry, I’m not Ryan’s ex on insta. I’m really trying to stay focused on our kids when we have them. But you (Kayla Rae Reid Lochte) or whatever name you chose… dropped off your vomit covered, pantsless two year old and left as quickly as possible for your girls’ weekend in Miami,” Gillihan wrote in a post.

“You are a CHILD and I am exhausted by YOUR false narrative. Your followers love it and crave it. Your lies are for them. Keep it up, girl. They are putty in your hands! Meanwhile, I will adore your children and mine until my last breath.”

Lochte and Reid announced in June that they would divorce after seven years of marriage “after deep prayer and thought,” she said. They have three children together.

“The past year has brought major changes for both of us as we made the difficult decision to end our marriage. I am deeply grateful for the life we ​​have built together and especially for the love we share for our three children,” Lochte wrote on Instagram.

“I have the greatest respect for marriage, so this has been one of the most painful, eye-opening and difficult seasons of my life. I hesitated to share until I could do so from a place of healing – not fresh, open wounds,” Reid wrote on Instagram at the time.

“Sometimes we face trials that we did not choose or anticipate. And in those moments, we are forced to make the most difficult decisions to protect our peace, our children and our future. I have come to understand that staying is not always the most loving decision one can make. For me, leaving was an act of love – for those around me and for myself.”

The divorce seemed to turn sour, however, after Reid posted about the “betrayal” a few weeks after their announcement.

The couple got engaged in 2016, the same year Lochte was involved in a controversial incident at a gas station during the Rio Olympics. Lochte initially claimed that he and his teammates had been robbed at gunpoint, but it was determined that those carrying the weapons were actually security guards at a gas station where the swimmers had urinated outside the restrooms.

Lochte finally lost four major sponsorships, and USA Swimming suspended him for 10 months.

Lochte won his sixth and final medal in Rio, a gold in the 4×200 meter freestyle. Reid was the Playboy Playmate of the Month for July 2015.
