Half of U.S. workers now report using some form of AI technology in their jobs, pushing that figure past the tipping point for the first time.
A new Gallup study found that 50% of employees now say they use AI tools at work to some extent, an increase of 4% from the previous quarter and 21% from the same period just three years ago.

Gallup’s survey, which took place February 4-19, 2026, specifically asked 23,717 U.S. employees how often they used AI in their role and what effect it had on their work.
The use of AI at work is also increasing, with 13% of employees now reporting using it daily, and 28% reporting using it several times a week or more.
Overall, businesses appear to be adapting to the changes, with 41% of employees reporting that their organization has incorporated AI in an effort to improve organizational practices, an increase of three points from the previous quarter.
Workers at AI-friendly companies were more likely to report “disruption” and both positive and negative changes in the workforce, as well as an increase in productivity.
However, only about one in ten employees in organizations that have adopted AI strongly agree that the technology has transformed the way work is done in their organization.
The survey finds that 27% of employees at companies that have adopted AI say their workplace has changed disruptively to a large or very large extent in the past year, compared to just 17% at non-AI companies.
More and more workers are concerned about the effect AI will have on their jobs, with a shocking 18% of all employees surveyed saying it would be very or somewhat likely that their job would be eliminated in the next five years due to AI or automation.
“Most employees who use AI report improvements in their productivity and efficiency, particularly in leadership and knowledge-based roles where they can easily apply AI to everyday tasks,” Gallup noted in its report.
“For many workers, however, these benefits appear at the level of individual tasks rather than at the level of broader work systems. Although some employees report transformational effects, relatively few say that AI has fundamentally changed the way work is done within their organization.”
