LAS VEGAS – The Danhausen Curse may be real after all – just ask Stephen A. Smith and the New York Mets.
While the latter lost his 10th match in a row, Smith had his share of the curse on Saturday night during the first night of WrestleMania 42. Smith was in attendance at WWE’s first event of the year and heard massive boos from the crowd.

Smith sat ringside watching the action. The ESPN star appeared on the video board above the ring at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. He seemed to accept the reaction and smiled.
The boos came after Danhausen’s appearance on “First Take” Friday — much to the sports pundit’s chagrin. Smith seemed perplexed by Danhausen’s appearance. Smith said he had heard of Danhausen and called him a “bad luck charm.”
Danhausen said Smith had been “rude” to him and put the dreaded “curse” on the commentator.
WWE STAR DANHAUSEN SAYS METS ‘CURSE’ ISN’T EXACTLY LIFTED AS TEAM PLAYS NINTH STRAIGHT MATCH

Smith is far from alone in dealing with the effects of the “curse.”
Danhausen agreed to “un-curse” the Mets during their losing streak. However, he told PK Press Club Digital earlier this week that there was a reason the curse’s removal hadn’t taken full effect.
“I undid the Mets curse. But it didn’t work because, I believe, it was Brian Gewirtz who didn’t pay Danhausen. He didn’t send me my money, so it didn’t take full effect,” Danhausen said. “Once I have the money, maybe it will work, because right now it’s probably half a non-curse. It’s like a layaway situation.”

On “Friday Night SmackDown,” WWE stars like The Miz and Kit Wilson were also targets of Danhausen’s curse.
