Ashley Graham confirmed she was appearing in The devil wears Prada 2, and in a more visible place than expected.
Talk to Varietythe model revealed details about her appearance in the film, which premieres May 1.
His agent and UTA partner, Natasha Bolouki, has been candid about the uncertainty that comes with such an appearance.
“You don’t know what’s going to happen [on the] cutting room floor,” Bolouki said. But the bet paid off.”
She was in the trailer… She’s in the opening scene of the movie. » Graham kept it simple: “It’s very exciting. »
Bolouki described this opportunity as one that might not have seemed significant at first glance, but was worth seizing precisely because of where it could lead.
“This little thing has led to other really great partnerships just because of that,” she said, citing it as an example of the kind of creative, forward-thinking approach that careers of multi-hyphenate talent now demand.
For Graham, the film was also an opportunity to put his values into practice. She brought plus-size designer Ella Halikas as her date to the premiere.
“I just thought, you know what, why not invite one of these girls who probably won’t get the chance, and open that door for someone?” she said.
“For me, it’s about constantly thinking about how to connect, engage and stay in touch with my community.”
Graham has long been one of the strongest advocates for size inclusion in fashion, and that focus remains unchanged.
“We need to see all shapes and sizes on the runway…we need to have more than just a single XL or a double XL in the store,” she said.
That same principle extends to her business decisions: She said she’s turned down million-dollar deals when they weren’t a good fit for her audience.
“I said no to million-dollar contracts, because I know the fans would say, ‘Wait, what?'”
