Vodafone has announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire CK Hutchison from its joint venture VodafoneThree UK.
The company will pay £4.3 billion (€4.9 billion) via a share cancellation for full control of VodafoneThree a year after announcing a merger between two of the country’s biggest mobile networks.

In a press release, Vodafone explained how, since confirming the merger in June 2025, the company has moved quickly to improve network coverage and reliability for users across the UK.
The move will result in an estimated £700m of annual cost and investment synergies by FY30, with greater synergy between stores and the overall business strategy.
“One year after the merger, the team has made remarkable progress, maximizing the full potential of VodafoneThree and capturing significant synergies,” said Margherita Della Valle, Vodafone Group Chief Executive Officer.
I am delighted that we will now become fully owned by VodafoneThree as we deploy one of Europe’s most advanced 5G networks, deliver the UK’s best customer experience and generate long-term value for our shareholders.
Vodafone’s decision to become a full owner of VodafoneThree is a clear vote of confidence in our business and the rapid start we have made to build an integrated team and deliver rapid benefits to our customers,” added Max Taylor, CEO of VodafoneThree.
“We remain focused on our multi-brand plan and strategy and committed to our mission to build the UK’s best network, bringing connectivity to every community in every corner of the country. »
