Joaquin, Kelly Ripa’s son, makes a gourmet gesture for Mother’s Day

Kelly Ripa celebrated Mother’s Day with an unexpected indulgent gesture from her youngest son, Joaquin Consuelos, who treated her to a McDonald’s feast instead of a traditional home-cooked meal.

During the May 11 episode of Living with Kelly and Markthe 55-year-old talk show host revealed that JoaquĆn, who currently stars in Death of a seller on Broadway, sent him a hilarious text from backstage suggesting the fast-food treat.

Although the 23-year-old initially mistook the holiday for her birthday, the family followed through with the order, which Kelly described as a “good time” and a rare departure from her usual strict health regimen.

The Mother’s Day meal was a major pivot for Ripa, who sticks to a nutritionist-approved diet of green juices, microgreen salads, and avocado-based desserts.

Telling her co-host and husband, Mark Consuelos, that the experience was “so different from us,” Kelly admitted she enjoyed a Big Mac and large fries.

It was the first time in years the couple had indulged in this, but the daytime star insisted it was delicious and she had a great time.

Beyond the food, Kelly was particularly pleased with the lack of housework, joking that cleaning simply involved throwing leftovers in the trash.

Mark Consuelos, who recently celebrated his 30th wedding anniversary with Kelly on May 1, had some mild complaints about portion sizes.

He jokingly questioned the weight of his Quarter Pounder, suggesting that it might not actually be a full quarter pounder, while Kelly noted that the Big Mac seemed much smaller than she remembered from years ago.

She even wondered aloud if the burgers had shrunk or just gotten bigger since their last visit to the Golden Arches.

Despite the casual nature of the dinner, Kelly couldn’t help but try to make the occasion slightly formal.

Mark teased his wife for setting the table with real plates, even though they ate from cardboard boxes.

Kelly admitted she took the plates out to make things look nice for their special day, only to put them straight back in the cupboard once they realized they weren’t needed.

For a mother of three, including Michael, 28, and Lola, 24, it was clearly the stress-free, trash-and-done nature of the evening that made it a winning move for Mother’s Day.
