Czechia and South Africa will face off in the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Thursday, June 18 at Atlanta Stadium on FOX in their second group stage match of the tournament.
Czechia and South Africa lost their first matches and either could be eliminated on Thursday.
Czechia is eliminated with a defeat and a win or draw for Mexico, while South Africa is eliminated with a defeat and a win/draw for South Korea.
Czechia scored first against South Korea on a header from Ladislav Krejcí in the 59th minute, but conceded two goals in the final half hour to lose 2-1 in heartbreaking fashion.
Meanwhile, South Africa lost 2-0 to Mexico, a match in which they lost two players to red cards. It became the first nation to receive two reds in a World Cup match since 2006.
This will be the first time these two nations will meet on a World Cup stage.

- South Africa were very poor in the first match against Mexico, while Czechia had a lead over South Korea, then curiously replaced their top scorer, Patrick Schick, and their most creative player, Pavel Sulc. Of course, this allowed South Korea to score twice and lose 2-1. The loser is eliminated here and I expect Czechia to win. It at least offered something in the opening match. I’m betting on a goal or assist from Sulc at any time.
