Tiger Woods on Tuesday made his first public appearance since his arrest in late March, introducing PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp at a news conference at TPC River Highlands in Connecticut.

Woods was arrested and charged with drunk driving involving property damage and refusal to submit to legal testing following his involvement in a two car rollover accident on March 27 near his home on Jupiter Island, Florida. Authorities said Woods appeared lethargic and found hydrocodone pills in his possession at the scene, although he registered “triple zeros” on breathalyzer tests.

Woods pleaded not guilty to the DUI charge and was granted permission April 1 to travel overseas for hospital treatment. He is believed to have entered a rehabilitation center in Zurich, Switzerland.

But Woods is now back in the United States and wasted no time making his presence felt on one of the most important days in recent PGA Tour history.

For Xander Schauffele, it was a feeling of normalcy.

“I saw Tiger. It was good. I thought he looked good, I said hello to him,” Schauffele told PK Press Club Digital of the 15-time major winner. “He was happy to be at the meeting. He definitely wanted to talk to the members. Certainly good.

“Any time Tiger is on a golf course, even if he’s not even suited to play, it’s a good thing for us.”

Woods introduced Rolapp before the latter spoke about a new set of recommendations from the Future Competition Committee which will lead to significant changes to the structure of the circuit from 2028.
