Expresses Pakistan’s condolences following helicopter crash in Saudi Arabia that killed 14 people

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region under the ‘Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding’ during a telephonic conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Sunday.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the two leaders had an in-depth discussion on recent regional developments and expressed deep concern over the evolving situation.
“FM Dar reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to continue working towards peace in the region in accordance with the ‘Islamabad MoU’,” the statement said.
During the call, FM Dar also offered Pakistan’s condolences over the helicopter crash in Saudi Arabia that killed 14 people.

He expressed sympathy on behalf of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Force Field Marshal Asim Munir, the government and people of Pakistan.
Prince Faisal thanked Pakistan for what the ministry called a “fraternal gesture” and expressed appreciation for its condolences.
The Saudi Foreign Minister also expressed his intention to visit Pakistan as soon as possible. FM Dar welcomed the proposed visit and expressed hope that it would materialize soon.

Earlier today, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, expressed her “serious concerns” over recent ceasefire violations in a telephone conversation with FM Dar.
Kallas stressed that “communication channels must remain open,” as the two leaders reviewed the rapidly evolving regional situation. She also appreciated “the sincere efforts of Pakistan, which resulted in the signing of the Islamabad MoU”.
FM Dar briefed the EU foreign policy chief on Pakistan’s continued diplomatic engagement aimed at promoting regional peace. He briefed Kallas on Pakistan’s “continued diplomatic efforts towards a comprehensive framework for peace and stability in the Middle East.”
