Pollen levels are rising again, bringing with them the familiar wave of hay fever symptoms and the royal family have had their share of unexpected sneezes.

Over the years, photographs have captured members of the monarchy battling sudden sneezes in the most public of places.

Those believed to be affected by hay fever include King Charles, Queen Camilla and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, all of whom have previously been linked to seasonal allergies.

One of the most recent moments occurred during Trooping the Color 2026, when Prince George appeared to hold back a sneeze while standing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the RAF flypast.

The young prince quickly regained his composure as the Princess of Wales gently checked on him, offering a warm “bless you” before reassuring her by saying: “I’m fine.”

The balcony scene followed a similar moment in 2024, when Prince Louis was seen sneezing during the king’s birthday celebrations.

One of the most shared royal sneezing moments came in 2018, during Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding at St. George’s Chapel. Then three-year-old Princess Charlotte, playing the role of a flower girl, was pictured sneezing while holding hands with her mother Kate on the chapel steps.

Prince Harry himself was not spared either, with cameras capturing him at the 2017 Audi Polo Challenge briefly sneezing mid-run as he walked across the field with Prince William, momentarily breaking his calm gait.

Elsewhere, the Duchess of Edinburgh was seen covering a sneeze during a 2014 visit to the Royal Kitchen Garden at Hampton Court Palace, adding another moment of levity to the royal archives.
