- Xero CEO describes the agentic era of accounting, powered by AI
- Several new additions to the JAX agentic platform will help workers across teams
- Cassidy also seeks to allay fears that AI will eliminate jobs, saying human influence is still vital.
The Xero CEO highlighted the key role AI can play in revolutionizing the finance and accounting industries.
Speaking at Xerocon 2026 in London, Sukhinder Singh Cassidy highlighted his company’s goal: “to be the trusted ecosystem for the agentic era” through its range of AI services and tools.
“It’s never been a more exciting time to imagine what’s possible with software,” she said, highlighting Xero’s goal, “to continue to transform our platforms, so you can transform your practice and we can then continue to leverage old and new technologies to make work smarter.”

Cassidy then mentioned Xero’s role in two major initiatives going forward, what she called the “next chapter” for the company, namely “making AI work for work” and also “supporting the rise of builders.”
“AI is definitely here,” she noted, “it’s still complicated, it’s still early days, but it’s one of the biggest trends, if not the biggest technology trend of our lifetime.”
The financial sector seems to be an obvious area where AI can benefit workers, with automated tools and services taking pressure off overworked employees, especially when it comes to time-consuming manual processes.
The company highlighted this with the release of several new AI tools for its JAX agentic platform, including Smart Document Capture, which can automatically extract relevant data and add it to Xero, and Auto Bank Reconciliation, which automates tedious manual accounting tasks by automatically matching transactions to bank feeds, in real time.
With all these new tools taking work away from humans, Cassidy has faced some employees’ fears that AI will steal their roles.
“We believe the role of the trusted advisor is not going away,” she emphasized, “it is growing, it is multiplying, and transforming into something much more powerful and meaningful in our time: your judgment, your relationships, your expertise become more valuable, not less, as you take advantage of these tools to power your business.” »
“It’s important to recognize that our job is not just to make sure AI works for your job, but that new opportunities are growing.”
