The Pakistan Aviation Authority (PAA) on Friday said search and rescue operations of the K2 Airways cargo plane were continuing in the high seas.

“The search for crew members continues with all vigor thanks to the coordinated use of air and sea assets,” the PAA said.
It added that “additional parts and debris from the ill-fated aircraft were located and recovered for further analysis by the investigation team.”

Late on Tuesday night, a K2 Airways Boeing 737-400 cargo plane with five crew members on board went missing off the coast of Karachi.

In a series of messages on
Pakistan Cargo Flight’s K2 Airways B 737 en route from Sharjah to Karachi at 9:18 p.m. PST reported a navigation system problem and was promptly guided by KARACHI ACC.

“However, at 9:21 p.m. PST, the aircraft was observed on radar in a rapid descent and with a rapid course change; subsequently, radar contact and communication was lost approximately 155 nautical miles west of Karachi,” the PAA said.

After 12 hours of searching, the Pakistan Navy and Maritime Rescue Agency “succeeded in locating and identifying the wreckage of the K2 Airways Cargo B737, which was declared missing,” the PAA said in a statement published on X.
The wreckage was found in the Arabian Sea, off the town of Ormara on Pakistan’s southern coast, the statement said.
