Benny Blanco has just revealed the cover of his next album, Hermosoand it divided fans on social media, with the majority not receiving it well.
The 37-year-old music producer will be released Hermoso on August 14, and the album cover depicts his own face distorted to look like a cartoon.
Many fans found it arrogant to call an album “beautiful” (translated from Spanish) and have one’s own face as the cover, while others criticized the distortion of a human face.
Shortly after the album was revealed, it became a sensation on social media.
Reacting to the revelation, one X user wrote: “What mask??? It’s right there” and “So cute it’s ugly,” another added.
More found an uncanny resemblance to The Weeknd’s album cover style, writing “Kinda Copy The Weeknd” and “He think he’s the Weeknd”.
While others added: “Beautiful. Truly hermoso. Never change kings (please change)” and “Just when you think it’s not getting worse…”
So far, Blanco has not responded to the criticism.
