King Charles is celebrating a special day not only as a monarch, but also as a devoted grandfather, as Prince George is officially in the next phase of his life.
Buckingham Palace has shared a special message for the future king as he marks a new chapter in his life on Wednesday, marking his 13th birthday.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a new portrait of the young prince, who has grown noticeably taller, almost the size of his mother, Princess Catherine. The photo was taken at Kensington Palace by photographer Matt Porteous, who has previously captured special moments for the family.
Minutes after its publication, the king’s office shared the portrait, with the message “Happy 13th birthday to Prince George!” ยป
It is also an important age for the young royal since his training as heir to the throne will be implemented by the Palace. According to tradition, once the heir reaches the age of 13, he can also begin his royal duties.
George has previously accompanied his parents on key occasions, which reports say was done to accustom the prince to public engagements.
Additionally, this September, George will follow in the footsteps of his father, Prince William, by heading to Eton College, marking the start of his high school experience.
