A owner of a confectionery store in sector 11-D has recorded a case on behalf of the local market merchants of the new Karachi police station under different sections, including extortion and death threats.

According to him, two armed suspects arrived on a motorcycle on the market around 9 p.m. Tuesday evening and asked 100,000 extortion rupees from each merchant. When they said they couldn’t pay them heavy amounts, the suspects opened fire.

A three-year-old toddler named Taimoor Ali was injured by shots while the suspects fled the scene.

The police arrived shortly after the incident and recovered a 9 mm pistol ball box on site.

However, the event did not end there. Around 10 p.m., traders, including the complainant, received another series of extortion messages, this time by demanding RS1 million and threatening to kill them if they did not pay. Police have confirmed that suspects are linked to the Lyari gangs.
