The Carolina Panthers will have a fun training camp project after their last announcement on Monday.
Colin Granger, a former basketball player in Division 1 for Ohio University, Western Caroline and Coastal Carolina, will try to convert to a tight end of the NFL.
The Granger 6 feet 8 inch and 245 pounds was announced as signatory of the Panthers, because it is withdrawn from five years of high school and is authorized to join a team as a free agent.

Granger was a center during his university career, playing two seasons at the University of Ohio, two seasons in western Caroline and finishing in Coastal Carolina.
He was a shooter of 52.3% in the field during his career, while transporting 322 total rebounds with the three different programs. He had 137 rebounds in Coastal Carolina to cap an impressive career.

Now, Panthers Brass has the history of converting former basketball players into NFL caliber pieces, while head coach Dave Canales and Director Dan Morgan did with George Fant with Seattle Seahawks.
Fant, which rises at 6 feet 5 inches and 315 pounds, played basketball in the west of Kentucky, and it was converted into a hybrid offensive tackle and a tight end. He ended up playing seven seasons in total with Seattle, the New York Jets and the Texans of Houston.

ESPN reports that Fant worked with Granger to prepare him for the transition, and it was he who spoke to the panthers of his potential.
Granger, however, is not on a football field since the eighth year, so the transition should not be easy.
But, of course, this is not new, especially in the close final position. Think of Antonio Gates, Jimmy Graham and the Grand Tony Gonzalez, who were all former basketball players before seeing tons of success in the NFL.

Granger will compete with a series of tightened ends in the Panthers training camp this summer, including Tommy Tremble and J’Tavion Sanders.
