- A new “unsubscribe” button has been spotted in Google messages
- This gives you an easy way to unsubscribe from automated messages
- You can also use it to report spam
If you are flooding unwanted messages from businesses or another spam, a new Google message tool may be useful.
Android Authority noticed that a new option has started to appear at the bottom of certain messages, saying “to unsubscribe to stop receiving messages”. Press this and you will be presented with options to ask yourself why you want to unsubscribe, the choices being “not registered”, “too many messages”, “more interested”, “spam” or “other”.
If you select one of the first three, the “stop” message will be automatically sent, while if you select “Other”, there is a box where you can fill more details before sending the message “Stop”, and if you select “Spam”, you will also have the possibility of reporting the sender.
Once you have completed the unsubscribe process, the text “Disabilities request sent” will appear under the message “Stop”, and a “Start” button will be visible at the bottom right, which you can use to relieve the automated texts of this sender.
Simply send “stop”
It is therefore a fairly complete system, but like most of the time, all it does is send the word “stop”, it is not necessarily faster than typing this yourself. The main point seems to be to allow people to unsubscribe more easily when they do not realize that they can do it.
This feature is deploying, so if you don’t have it yet, keep an eye on it, because you will probably do it soon-although it is currently deployed only to users in the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Mexico and Spain.
Also note that this feature only works with Google messages, so if you are using a different messaging application, you will have to keep unsubscribing the old way.
