Octavio Dotel, who won a world series with the Cardinals of St. Louis in 2011, would have been in a nightclub in the Dominican Republic when the roof collapsed.
The former MLB launcher was then taken from the rubble of the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, according to the New York Post.

Seven others, including singer Rubby Pérez, were also rescued, local media reported.

More than two dozen people died and 160 others were injured in the Dominican capital on Tuesday, when the emblematic nightclub where politicians, athletes and others attended a Merengue concert, authorities told the Associated Press.

Almost 12 hours after the top of the nightclub collapsed on customers, the rescue teams still withdrew outlords from the debris. On the scene, the firefighters used broken concrete blocks and sawn pieces of wood to lift heavy debris while the noise of the exercises that break through the concrete filled the air.
It was not immediately clear which caused the roof collapse.

Jet Set published a statement saying that she was cooperating with the authorities.
“The loss of human life leaves us in a state of deep pain and dismay,” he said.
Dotel played for 13 MLB teams during his 15 -year career in major league. He made his debut with the New York dishes and appeared for the last time in a match with the Detroit Tigers in 2013.
The launcher was a member of the Cardinals team who beat the Texas Rangers in the seventh match of the World Series 2011.
