For the first time in the history of Punjab, the provincial government has launched a complete technical training program for the Transgender community, Express News said on Friday.

The initiative aims to empower transgender individuals thanks to vocational training in various fields such as IT, freelance, sewing, fashion design, electrical work, solar technology, beauty services, culinary arts and health care assistance.

Under the first phase, 1,600 transgender people will be formed by the Punjab skills development fund.

The program is part of the vision of chief Minister Maryam Nawaz of economic dignity, introduced under the slogan: “The transgender people will win with dignity, no request.”

Maryam Nawaz condemned the ill -treatment of transgender people, stressing their marginalization due to social exclusion and the lack of employment possibilities.

“This training will not only provide skills, but will also restore compliance and legitimate status in society,” she said. “Talent has no sex.”

Managers say that the initiative helps transgender people to become autonomous and pursue careers beyond societal stereotypes.
