As criticisms leave, “all those involved should be in prison” is quite hard. But that was one of the many criticisms deeply disappointed with PersuasionNetflix adaptation of Jane Austen Classic.
For many fans of Austen, and adaptations in general, the best versions are those that stick near the source text. I am therefore cautiously optimistic that the newly announced and apparently faithful adaptation of Netflix Pride and damage will hover on the bar certainly bass taking place by its Austen adaptation in 2022 to become one of the best Netflix programs.
The new pride and prejudices of Netflix: what we know so far
There are many reasons to be cheerful to this next adaptation of six episodes. The first is who writes it; The second is who directs it; And the third, fourth and fifth are in it.
The writer is Dolly Alderton, who won a national prize for his novel Everything I know about love And who absolutely likes the book of Austen. It is “The plan for romantic comedy”, she says, and “The book is a gift to adapt – filled with theater and depth as well as comedy and charm”.
Alderton is also very happy to work with the director of Euros Lyn, who managed HeartAnd with a “stellar” cast.
This cast includes Emma Corrin (Nosferatu, Black Mirror) Like Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden (Slow horses, blessing) Like M. Darcy.
Did you know that Lowden is Scottish? He was born in England but grew up in the city of Oxton Scottish borders. I am so used to seeing him as an English agent in Slow horses That I was really shocked when I heard him speak in his normal Scottish accent. But I’m getting lost. The wonderful Olivia Coleman (The favorite, the crown), one of the best players in the United Kingdom is Ms. Bennet.
Will this Pride and Prejudice series arrive in 2025? Probably not: Netflix says that the series will start to shoot in the United Kingdom later this year. But all the signs are that this adaptation could be all that Persuasion No, so it could be worth waiting.
