The authorities of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have expressed a heat wave alert, while the temperatures in the province should increase considerably in the coming days.

The province of disaster management (PDMA) said in a statement on Saturday that most districts should undergo a gradual increase in daytime temperatures on Monday, Express News reported.

Diurnal vertices could increase by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius, while dry and dusty winds can affect certain afternoon and evening zones.

The Met Office warned that the heat and the prolonged dry conditions could increase the risk of heat dissolution and to extend water resources.

The PDMA has ordered all district administrations and relevant services to take precautionary measures. The agency urged the public to avoid direct exposure to the sun between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., especially the elderly and children.

Farmers have been advised to provide adequate water supply for their crops, while the health service was invited to maintain operational heat stroke centers. Paramedical paramedics and rescue teams have been alert.

Instructions have also been published to protect livestock and pets during the heat wave.

Driver was advised to check the pressure of the coolant and motor tires of their vehicle before traveling. The PDMA said that its emergency operation center is fully functional and that citizens can report emergencies via the 1700 telephone assistance line.
