The president of Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-H), AFAQ Ahmed, allegedly allegedly alleged that a motorcycle had been deliberately placed under a truck of the Dumper in the Mor Up zone to film a video and create the impression of ethnic violence in the city.
Speaking at a press conference, Ahmed said that the incident had been orchestrated and that individuals who set fire are not arrested, while several innocent citizens and his party workers were detained.
He said that the incident had been used to sabotage growing public support for his position, which he said led to an informal alliance between the Muttahida Qaumi (MQM) movement and Pakistan People Party (PPP). “Efforts are made to give an ethnic color to our movement,” he added.
Ahmed said his party called for a peaceful demonstration involving all the communities affected by Karachi problems, including high traffic volumes, poor access to education and alleged systemic discrimination in public sector jobs.
“The flies do not identify people by ethnic origin,” he said, urging the authorities to take measures against the so-called “dumper mafia”. He said that no arrest had been caused by managers of the vehicle fire.
He also criticized the application of article 144 of the central district, calling him a reaction to the successful mobilization efforts of the MQM-H. Ahmed said that political workers from other parties could come together without restrictions, but that MQM-H demonstrations were treated as a threat.
Addressing the government and the police, Ahmed declared that his party did not seek confrontation and had urged supporters to wear white flags as a symbol of peace. “We only wanted the government to take note of our grievances,” he said.
Ahmed also accused MQM of having avoided the criticisms of the Governance of the PPP and wondered why his workers were confronted with legal action for the planning of the protest when no action was taken against similar declarations made by the management of MQM.
He reiterated that his party had not promoted the ethnic division and said that recent events were manipulated to portray MQM-H as a disruptive force. He demanded that the people involved in the staging of the Morocco incident will be arrested and brought to justice.
Ahmed concluded by saying that his party would continue to defend the rights of Karachi and called for a stronger organizational presence in the central district.
The controversy surrounding the Mor Up incident started after a high -speed Dumper collided with several motorcyclists near the North Karachi Power House, injuring three people.
While a video of the incident has become viral, angry residents went down to the streets to protest. Heavy heavy vehicles, including five waste, an oil tanker and a truck were burned in different places across the city.
