There are moments in the history of nations where a leader must make a daring decision – which favors national sovereignty and security above all. Such decisions engrave the name of the leader in history, ensuring that they are memorized and revered for generations. May 28, 1998 was such a historic day, when Pakistan, under the direction of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, increased with dignity on the world scene and was recognized as a nuclear power. This historic day was rightly called Youm-E-Takbeer. India had carried out nuclear tests on May 11, 1998, in order to dominate the region and assert its superiority. However, Nawaz Sharif, resistant to immense international pressure – including a help of aid of $ 5 billion in the United States – has chosen to maintain the dignity and independence of Pakistan. On May 28, 1998, Pakistan carried out six nuclear tests in Chaghai, effectively neutralizing the nuclear posture of India and established itself as the first and the only nuclear power in the Islamic world. This bold decision came at a significant cost. Nawaz Sharif and his government have faced intense international pressure, economic sanctions and isolation. However, the inhabitants of Pakistan stood firmly behind their leadership, sending a clear message to the world: Pakistan would never compromise its sovereignty or national integrity. Now, 27 years later, this same unshakable determination has been observed again. On May 7, 2025, India again attempted the assault against Pakistan. But under the decisive direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan responded with full force. The nation was united, shoulder in the shoulder with its government and its armed forces, strengthening national resolution. On May 10, Pakistan gave the Indian assault a historic blow, forcing it to withdraw. The success of this operation has passed through the world. The world has witnessed the power of Pakistan Thunder JF-17 jets, J-10C planes, Fatah missiles and Shaheen ballistic systems. The international media, in particular Western points of sale, underlined the humiliating defeat of India, while the Indian media – reduced the propagation of false propaganda – were exposed and forced to withdraw its fabricated claims. The arrogance of India and military adventurism met an overwhelming response. Prime Minister Modi and his media allies were left to the shame of defeat. Pakistan’s cyber war capacities have further disoriented Indian command structures, forcing India to back down.
Youm-e-Takbeer: a symbol of unity and strength
