MLB Commissioner Blames Communication Breakdown Due to Bible Verse Backlash
“America’s Newsroom” discusses MLB’s response to players wearing Bible verses on their baseball caps. Commissioner Rob Manfred sent a letter to Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., explaining that the initial warning was a “routine oral warning” due to a miscommunication with the Giants organization and that the players face no penalty. FOX Business’ Brian Brenberg and PK Press Club contributor Tom Shillue commend the players for their courage in standing up for their beliefs.

At least Jazz Chisholm Jr. didn’t have chewing tobacco in his mouth.
However, the New York Yankees second baseman was caught sucking on a lollipop while playing defense in Detroit on Tuesday.
Unlike sunflower seeds or bubble gum, it was quite a striking sight, as the Yankees led 4-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning against the Tigers in the midst of a mini-slip.

Chisholm is normally quite nonchalant, and manager Aaron Boone is rather stoic and sometimes defends his players against a foul. But the lollipop is where the line was drawn.
“It pisses me off,” Boone told “Talkin’ Yanks.” “I didn’t know about it until after the game. He and I talked about it. It’s not going to happen. I’m not on that.”

Chisholm is certainly not one to hide from anything. He was booed in Kansas City after saying the Royals “got lucky” against the Yanks in Game 2 of the 2024 American League Division Series.
Before this season, he boldly claimed he would produce 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases (he’s 11 and 23 about halfway through the season), and earlier this month he predicted the Yankees would win their 28th World Series title.
Chisholm is currently on pace for his worst major league season, as his .226 average, .406 slugging percentage, and .716 OPS are all the worst marks of his career.
