Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita finally face off in a long-awaited rematch of their Continental Classic semi-final bout at World’s End in December.

The two members of the Don Callis family had been at odds for months. The highly competitive professional wrestling superstars were finally put in a match at All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) Double or Nothing on Sunday in New York for Okada’s International Championship.

The match did not disappoint.

It was hard and fast – almost hard to follow what was happening because neither Okada nor Takeshita wanted to stay down for very long. The crowd at Louis Armstrong Stadium chanted “Fight forever!” » while each man rained blows on each other.

Okada would nail a Tombstone Piledriver on Takeshita, then the patented Rainmaker. But Takeshita got up after the referee counted to one. Takeshita reached as far as he could into his soul and hit Okada with his own version of the Rainmaker.

Takeshita finished Okada with Raging Fire and earned the victory to become the new AEW International Champion. This is the second time he has won the AEW International Championship, which represents the only singles title he has been able to win in the company.

Takeshita’s moment of joy didn’t last very long. He had to keep his head turned. Just when it looked like the Don Callis Family was going to completely ruin their night, Kyle Fletcher’s music hit and sent the crowd into a frenzy.

Fletcher made his way to the ring with everyone from Callis’ faction watching what he was going to do. He first hugged Takeshita and raised his hand in a moment of congratulation.

But it didn’t last long.

Fletcher double-teamed Takeshita then hit him with the belt while Rocky Romero and Mark Davis held him back.

Fletcher showed his loyalty was lying and it seemed to be with the Don Callis family.
