- The Rock discovered AI
- He is ChatGPT positive
- The AI gave him a fantastic training program and something else to chew on.
The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) can be forgiven for only just getting on the fast AI train. The AI revolution, arguably kicked off by ChatGPT in 2022, isn’t even five years old, and in that time The Rock has made five films, including major features like Black Adam And RedOscar Bait The smashing machine, and live-action Disney Moana remake.
It’s a time when stars of film, television, and even online video are speaking out for or against technology that could eat them away. In January, SAG-AFTRA President Sean Astin called the changes AI is bringing to his industry an “existential threat.” Johnson is a member of SAG-AFTRA, and while his superstar status might protect him from the AI taking over his position, there’s nothing stopping someone from generating unauthorized AI videos of Johnson in action.
Johnson, however, who sat down for a lengthy interview with Esquire Magazineis more than optimistic about AI; he’s quite a fan.
“I’ve always been a proponent of big change. After we think about it carefully… we can either bury our heads in the sand and be afraid, or we can say, ‘Okay, here we are. Let’s see. Let’s explore,'” Johnson told the magazine.
And he explored. The former professional wrestler and fitness enthusiast, probably known as much for his physique as his charming on-screen persona, installed ChatGPT just a few weeks ago and, as one does, began asking him about a workout program,
For a novice, Johnson’s ability to create a usable prompt was impressive. He said he poured in all sorts of details, like what he ate, how he slept and his goals.
If, like many of us, you’ve been using ChatGPT or another generative chatbot for years, the results might not surprise you, but Johnson was blown away by the response. He said the training program was “like it came from ten of the greatest coaches I’ve ever worked with.” [It was] very specific. I ended up having a fucking amazing workout,” he told Esquire.
At TechRadar, a few of us are using AI to help us improve our exercise routines and, in general, have discovered the same thing: it knows us and can presumably play a fitness expert.
The Rock in the People’s House?
The interview is worth reading because, after this first prompt and with the Esquire reporter looking on, Johnson asked about the possibility of running for President of the United States. This has already been mentioned. I read interviews with him nearly a decade ago that asked the same question, but this is the first time Johnson has asked an AI – in this case ChatGPT – about its prospects. In reality, he wondered: If he ran, why would people choose to vote for him?
Nothing ChatGPT came back with is surprising. He underlines the sympathy of the actor, the fact that he is not a politician, that he does not sow discord and his journey, which has not always been easy (find and watch the television show, now canceled). Young Rock if you can).
The answer, however, seemed to surprise Johnson, and who knows what comes next.
As it turns out, ChatGPT received some sort of support from one of the most popular actors in the world, and The Rock may recently be considering a run for the White House. This isn’t exactly shocking, but it’s perhaps worth remembering his words about AI more broadly: “We can either bury our heads in the sand” or “we can say…let’s explore.” At the very least, you might end up with one of the best workouts of your life.
