Anna Wintour made her entrance to the 2026 Met Gala wearing the kind of statement fashion only she can pull off, a feathered turquoise jacket layered with a turquoise and black embroidered dress, both custom Chanel, bringing the evening’s costume art theme to life with characteristic authority.
The 76-year-old arrived among the first to hit the white carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, accessorizing with her signature oversized sunglasses, a statement necklace, strappy black stilettos and, of course, her signature bob and bangs.
Some things never change.
Wintour remains the annual fundraiser’s senior chair despite handing editorial control of American Vogue to her successor Chloe Malle, who was named head of editorial content in September.
Wintour has since taken on the role of chief content officer for Condé Nast, overseeing a portfolio that includes CABLE, Vanity Fair, GQ, Charm And Enjoy your foodTrunk still reporting directly to her.
Joining Wintour this year are co-chairs Beyoncé, making her first Met Gala appearance in a decade, Venus Williams and Nicole Kidman.
Honorary chairs Lauren Sánchez Bezos and Jeff Bezos sparked much discussion when announcing their roles, having earned the titles after pledging to be the biggest donors of the evening.
Wintour was decidedly positive about the nomination. “We are so grateful for his incredible generosity,” she said CNN in November. “So we’re excited to have her be part of the evening.”
This will be Lauren’s second Met Gala appearance and Jeff’s third.
