The top brass of the army has decided to take all necessary measures to ensure availability of Pakistan’s rightful share of water, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Monday.

The statement was made during the 276th Corps Commanders’ Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, chaired by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir, according to the Army’s media wing.

The forum, taking note of Indian rhetoric around the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), reaffirmed the directions given in the National Security Committee (NSC) directive of April 24, 2025.

He expressed “strong commitment to take all necessary measures” to ensure availability of Pakistan’s rightful share of water, in line with the directives of the government and the inspirations of the people of Pakistan.

The forum offered plight to the martyrs of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and innocent civilians, reaffirming that their sacrifices remain the foundation of Pakistan’s security, unity and resilience.

The forum reviewed the current security environment, expressing satisfaction with the operational readiness, professionalism and combat readiness of the Pakistan Armed Forces.

The forum expressed serious concerns over the continued use of territory under the control of the Afghan Taliban regime by Indian-sponsored terrorist groups, including Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan, to orchestrate attacks inside Pakistan.

It asserted that lasting peace and stability in the region depended on preventing the use of Afghan soil by Indian-mandated terrorists for which the Afghan Taliban regime was directly responsible.

“Pakistan has the unequivocal right to defend its people against terrorism and the armed forces must continue their intelligence-based operations against terrorism emanating from the territory controlled by the Afghan Taliban under Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq,” the ISPR said.

In addition to these kinetic actions, the army top brass stressed the immediate need to establish strong governance structures in troubled areas for public service and welfare, as well as to break the “nefarious nexus between terrorism and crime” that thrives under direct political patronage.
