The Airport Safety Force (ASF) thwarted a smuggling attempt of 20 million rupees in local and foreign currency at Jinnah International Airport on Tuesday.
According to officials, a passenger identified as Irfanul Haq was intercepted as he tried to climb a flight to Toronto.
ASF staff reported their luggage during routine analysis. Manual research has revealed $ 70,000 in American currency, $ 2,200 Canadian dollars and 160,000 rupees in Pakistani currency.
The authorities noted that the total amount recovered exceeded 20 million rupees. Travelers are legally authorized to transport up to $ 10,000 in foreign currencies.
The suspect was placed in police custody and customs as well as the money recovered for a more in -depth investigation and legal action.
