- Fujifilm may have asked the retailers to suspend orders for three cameras
- The rumors suggest that the X100VI, GFX100RF and X-M5 are affected
- This decision could be linked to the price – we asked Fujifilm an answer
The Fujifilm X100VI has not been easy to find in the best of cases since its launch just over a year ago – but the compact camera could soon become really impossible to buy new in the United States, according to new rumors.
An anonymous source apparently declared rumors to Fuji according to which Fujifilm “had recently contacted the retailers of the suspension of the commands” for the X100VI, alongside the new Fujifilm GFX100RF and the black version of the Fujifilm X-M5.
If this is true, this means that latecomers for Fujifilm X100Vi can now be suspended in the United States, which means that they cannot join the queue of people while waiting for one. This would also mean that pre-orders from the GFX100RF, which was announced less than a month ago, can be suspended in the United States before it even begins.
The little Fujifilm X-M5 has apparently not been as seriously affected, the suspension of pre-orders apparently only affecting the black version. But it is possible that the stock of the Silver version, which is already being shipped, can also be dry. We have contacted Fujifilm for an answer to these rumors and update this story if we hear.
The problem is apparently that, as the rumors of Fuji claim, the X100VI and X-M5 are both manufactured in China, which the United States submitted at a rate of 145%. The GFX100RF is made in Japan, so the reasons for its apparent problems in the United States are less obvious.
Something that is not clear is also whether the training effect could be the greatest availability of these three cameras in other regions.
In the United Kingdom, for example, Fujifilm X100VI is still largely out of stock, but it may also be possible to divert stocks to different regions due to variations in accessories and guarantees.
What should you get instead?
We do not yet know how these Fujifilm reports have suspended orders for retailers for the X100VI in the United States. But anyway, it is already very difficult to buy the camera from new, with the X100Vi listed as “out of stock” on the Fujifilm store and behind at retailers. The trade war will certainly not alleviate this situation.
Fortunately, the X100VI is not your only option. I have already written about how this camera has helped increase the compact prices of cameras because of its popularity, but this effect began to decline in early 2025 as stock problems were relaxed.
If you want a powerful compact camera which is truly Pochable (and smaller than the X100VI), then the Ricoh Gr III and Gr Iix (which I would go because of its 40 mm lens) are both good options.
We have also recently noted the availability of Leica D-Lux 8, while other solid second-hand options include the Panasonic Lumix LX100 II and Fujifilm X-Pro 2. But my choice would be one or the other Fujifilm X-T30 II or X-T50-in fact, I bought the latter when he went to a new record price recently.
None of the XT models is as small or as desirable as the X100Vi of TV style, but they come with the considerable advantage of being able to change the lenses. This makes them potentially better long -term purchases, and certainly higher short -term purchases – since they are really available to buy both new and used.
