Lamine Yamal was injured while converting a penalty during Barcelona’s Spanish league match against Celta Vigo on Wednesday.
Lamine Yamal is suspected of having a torn hamstring, according to club sources via ESPN, with the severity and recovery timetable pending pending the results of scans scheduled for Thursday.
Yamal scored Barcelona’s first goal in the 40th minute and immediately turned to the bench to signal that he was injured.
He fell to the ground as his teammates arrived to celebrate, then appeared to grab the back of his left leg.
Yamal left the field on his own after being treated by doctors. He spoke briefly with coach Hansi Flick on the sidelines before entering the locker room tunnel alone.
Yamal, 18, is expected to make his World Cup debut for Spain in June.
