Barry Manilow was looking forward to finally returning to the stage this month amid his recovery from cancer, but he had to take a break again.
The music legend announced Friday (May 1) that he is postponing his May Las Vegas residency dates at Westgate Las Vegas as he continues to recover from lung cancer surgery. Nonetheless, the 82-year-old reassured his fans that his recovery is moving in the right direction and that he hopes to be back on stage by July.
Sharing the update on Instagram Stories, Manilow revealed that a recent trip to the doctor brought some encouraging news.
“Good news! I went to the doctor yesterday and he told me that I’m making great progress and that I’m in great shape! All the training and exercises I’ve been doing are paying off. He did, however, say that I’m not quite ready for Vegas. That means I won’t be able to come back for our May shows at Westgate Las Vegas.”
He added that he remains on track for his planned June dates in the UK, telling fans: “Westgate Las Vegas is my home away from home and I’ll see you all in July.”
The postponement is the latest setback since Manilow revealed his stage 1 lung cancer diagnosis in December 2025. He underwent surgery shortly afterward to remove a cancerous spot from his left lung and has been making a steady recovery since.
Despite multiple postponements, the singer has not slowed down her creativity. His latest single, Once before leavingrecently became a top 10 adult contemporary hit, while his upcoming album what time is set to be released on June 5 – its first collection of new material in almost 15 years.
