Bitcoin Prices fell slightly late in the morning on the U.S. East Coast after comments from U.S. President Donald Trump signaled a halt to planned diplomatic trips related to the Iran negotiations.
The largest cryptocurrency fell about $100 to $77,351 just before noon ET, reversing an earlier modest gain. The move came minutes after a Fox reporter published Trump’s remarks on X, where he said he had canceled a trip by envoys Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
“I told my people a little while ago that they were getting ready to leave, and I said, ‘No, you’re not taking an 18-hour flight to get there. We have all the cards. They can call us whenever they want, but you’re not going to take 18-hour flights and sit around and say nothing anymore,'” Trump said, according to the message.
Witkoff and Kushner were to travel to Pakistan for a new round of negotiations involving Iran. The move came just hours after Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, left Pakistan, a detail that had fueled disappointment over expectations for near-term talks.
However, BTC’s decline was limited, suggesting that markets viewed this development as a signal of short-term risk rather than a change in the broader outlook.
Market participants will likely monitor follow-up statements from U.S. officials and any response from Iran. Trump is expected to speak at a crypto conference in Palm Beach around noon Eastern Time.
