After suffering an injury during Saturday’s third round at the RBC Canadian Open, Brooks Koepka opted not to attempt the final round, ultimately withdrawing from the PGA Tour event Sunday morning.
The Tour announced that the five-time major champion had withdrawn due to a hand injury shortly before his final round start time. Koepka was six under and seven shots out of the lead heading into the final round at TPC Toronto before calling it quits.
While speaking to the media Saturday afternoon following his third-round 72, Koepka shared details of the injury that was causing him discomfort.

“I don’t know what it is. I have trouble gripping the club with my ring finger and my little finger, so I can’t grip it,” Koepka said. “So the club is a little tight, my fingers were coming off, it was a little numb. I don’t know what the problem was, but hopefully we’ll find a solution.”
Koepka also said he had never suffered this type of injury before it broke out in Canada.

The hand injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for the 36-year-old, as the US Open takes place next week at Shinnecock Hill, site of Koepka’s second US Open victory of 2018.
Since leaving LIV Golf and returning to the PGA Tour as part of the Returning Member Program in early 2026, Koepka had had strong results heading into the third major championship of the year.
In his 11 starts before the Canadian Open, Koepka had six top-20 finishes, including a T12 at the Masters in April.

Koepka’s withdrawal also loses him the opportunity to accrue valuable FedEx Cup points as a player who has no status for the remaining marquee events on the calendar.
With his history at Shinnecock and his consistent play this season, Koepka was among the shortlist of players who could make some noise at the U.S. Open starting Thursday, but his status now appears uncertain.
