Taylor Swift and BTS have two of the biggest fandoms in the music industry and the two groups are once again clashing over Jungkook’s album. Golden.
Swifties believe the track Yes or No released in 2023 looks too much like the pop superstar’s Daylight released in 2019, and the two fandoms began arguing over whether it was plagiarism, a case of inspiration, or just a theory.
Although the song has been out for a few years now, neither artist has spoken about it publicly, but it’s something their fandoms are still fighting over.
Sharing a side-by-side snippet of the songs, a fan pointed out the similarities, which sparked a war in the comments, as one social media user wrote: “This shows that Jungkook is clearly the better singer.”
A Swiftie added, “Haven’t BTS always been known for plagiarism? Don’t be surprised by the fact that they always plagiarize.”
However, some argued, “This isn’t copied. It’s just a two-note melody with the same beat” and “Oh please, Jungkook isn’t sampling her music, he doesn’t need to copy anyone else, especially her.”
One replied: “How are you going to be a musician, oh my God? Things like that don’t even qualify as plagiarism. Seriously go to school. If you’re that angry, ask Taylor to sue Ed Sheeran and she’ll laugh at you,” referring to the fact that Sheeran, who is Swift’s friend, is the song’s composer and lyricist.
While the battle may be settled for now, it appears to be far from over.
