While some in the WNBA may not recognize it, LPGA legend Annika Sorenstam certainly does: Caitlin Clark is great for women’s sports.
In a recent interview with PK Press Club Digital, Sorenstam explained how Clark helped attract a new demographic to golf.
“She’s obviously very popular. She brings a new demographic to the game, and when she plays the pro-am, I mean, we have a lot of people in attendance and wanting her autograph. She follows her and every shot, and she’s just great for women’s sports. and we love that she’s a part of it,” Sorenstam told PK Press Club Digital.

Sorenstam participates in the American Century Championship on Friday and is one of the contenders to win the tournament. Clark can’t compete in the celebrity golf tournament due to the WNBA schedule, but he thinks Clark would do well.
Clark competed in the ANNIKA Pro-Am and Sorenstam was impressed with her play.

“I think she would do pretty well (at the American Century Championship.) I mean, she’s a heck of an athlete, as you know. That’s kind of a no-brainer. But she loves golf. She’s been playing golf for many years, and I know every chance she gets, she goes to the course,” Sorenstam told PK Press Club Digital.
Sorenstam is one of the favorites to win the tournament. Sorenstam, who won 72 LPGA Tour tournaments, including 10 majors, during her illustrious career, will raise awareness of the Annika Foundation.

“We’re trying to empower and advance young women through golf, but also in life, through different life skills, and it’s been really rewarding and satisfying to see how far women’s golf has come and how many of these young women are chasing their dreams. It’s been a lot of fun and seeing the difference that we’re making in these young women’s lives,” Sorenstam said.
With the Stableford scoring format, Sorenstam spoke about the need to be more aggressive and pursue more birdies and eagles. The tournament will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock.
