Caitlin Clark appeared emotionally distraught during the postgame press conference following the Indiana Fever’s 113-96 loss to the Atlanta Dream and rival Angel Reese.
The superstar had her head down and spoke in a somber tone as she responded to her team’s second-half collapse, saying everything her team did “was a mistake.” The Fever committed 29 personal fouls in the loss.
“What we did well in the first half was play in transition, spray, find open people. Um, and then it’s really hard to do that when all we do is foul and they score,” Clark said.

Clark also made seven of his team’s 19 turnovers in the game.
“We need to take better care of the ball and that starts with me,” Clark said.
Between turnovers, Clark also appeared to roll his eyes while White spoke to him during the game, as clips of the moment went viral on social media.
White also addressed his team’s fouling issues in the match and didn’t rule out the referees giving them more fouls.

“I think a little bit of both,” White said when asked if the foul problems were “correctable” or if it was “the way they’re called.”
“Obviously there’s been a lot of emphasis on fouling. Freedom of movement has been a priority. We’ve seen foul calls go way up. Um, you know, I think individually, uh, there’s definitely some things we can do to keep ourselves from being as vulnerable and collectively, there’s some things we can do to support each other so we don’t end up in those positions.”

Clark experienced several emotional moments throughout the match.
In the first quarter, Clark moved the ball up the court and, after being fouled near the top of the key by the Dream’s Jordin Canada, Reese punched the ball through his hands. Clark objected to this action and eventually waved Reese off. The rally took place about a minute after Clark hit a 3-pointer to Reese’s face.
It was Clark and the Fever’s second loss to Reese’s Dream in three days, after the Dream won a Thursday meeting at Indiana 108-101.
The Fever are now 9-7 and continue to play below the team’s expectations entering the season.
Clark finished the game with 26 points, three rebounds and seven assists.
