- Canon would have canceled certain price reductions provided for two cameras
- The prices are blamed for the drops EOS R7 and EOS R10 canned in the United States
- Blackmagic has also recently confirmed price increases for its cameras in the United States
If you are a fan of technology, it is difficult to escape the concerns of American prices at the moment – and the cameras may have just experienced their real impact for the first time with the reported cancellation of certain expected cannon price reductions.
Reliable cannon rumors indicate that it has been informed that “the price reductions that were scheduled for May on EOS R7 and EOS R10 were canceled in the United States”. Gradually for anyone plans to buy a camera without an affordable mirror, it was also informed that “the price reductions were going to be important”.
On the positive side, if you live in the United Kingdom or the EU, Canon Rumors said that its source said that Canon Eos R7 and EOS R10 “should always occur”.
This could change, but it is another sign of important geographic differences that we could see this year concerning discounts and prices.
Of course, nothing is certain for the moment, and if the United States and Japan have reached an arrangement that has reduced the impact of prices, the situation could change. However, in the state that things arise, the Canon Eos R10 (which we always assess as the best camera for beginners) and his mid -range brother Eos R7 will not be as tempting as they could have been otherwise this year.
Unfortunately, it will probably be only the start of another year of roller coaster for cameras fans …
Analysis: it could get worse
USA price updates! Due to new prices, most of our American prices have increased. Please check our American website for more details. Prices in other countries are currently unchanged. https://t.co/w40iiwma02April 6, 2025
Obviously, lacking potentially important price reductions is not great, especially if you have thought of obtaining a new EOS R7 or EOS R10. But if the first signs are an indication, things could soon get worse, especially in the United States.
During the weekend, Blackmagic displayed the above opinion, confirming that its American prices had been increased “due to new prices”. In some cases, the climb was quite dramatic, the new Blackmagic Pyxis 12k G2 seeing its label increased by 32%.
Is this a sign of to come from other cameras manufacturers? Although it is difficult to predict anything with a real certainty at the moment, it is certainly possible. A large part of the cannon manufacturing takes place in Japan (struck with a price of 24%), while Nikon mid -range equipment is manufactured in Thailand (which currently has a rate of 36%).
Unless we see rapid trade agreements that reduce these prices, it is just to assume that many bodies, objectives and accessories – perhaps most – will become much more expensive this year.
If this happens, we can also expect to see the second-hand prices increase, because the number of good deals hunters increases and the pre-tail offer begins to decrease. In other words, it could become a good time to delay your next camera upgrade or at least crop the situation as a relief of the equipment acquisition syndrome (otherwise known as Gas in Camera Circles).
It’s time to prepare for a rocky ride.
