Wimbledon will be without one of tennis’ biggest stars.
Seven-time Grand Slam winner Carlos Alcaraz announced on social media that he would withdraw from the tournament he won twice.
“My recovery is going well and I feel much better, but unfortunately I am still not ready to be able to compete, which is why I have to withdraw from the grass court at Queen’s and Wimbledon,” Alcaraz said on social media.

“These are two really special tournaments for me and I will miss them a lot. We will continue to work to return as quickly as possible!”
The 23-year-old suffers from inflammation of the tendon sheath in his wrist. He was injured in the first round of the Barcelona Open in April.
Alcaraz is already expected to miss Roland Garros, where he is a two-time defending champion, due to his injury.

With Alcaraz out, Jannik Sinner is the favorite to win Roland Garros.
Alcaraz has won Wimbledon twice, in 2023 and 2024.
The Spaniard has become one of the most dominant players in the sport. He started this year’s Grand Slams by winning the Australian Open in February against Novak Djokovic.

With his victory at the Australian Open, he became the youngest man to win all four major tennis titles.
Alcaraz has won two titles this season and has won 26 in his career. He has a career record of 302-68.
