Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is seemingly unable to stay out of trouble during an NFL offseason, as he is in jail for violating his probation and was sentenced last offseason for a reckless driving charge from the 2024 offseason.
That’s a lot of offseason misfires on Rice’s part.
The latest came Tuesday when he tested positive for marijuana (THC), in violation of the July 2025 plea agreement that put him on probation for five years and ordered him to serve 30 days in jail over a five-year period.
Rice was booked into the Dallas County Jail in Texas on Tuesday and will serve 30 days. His release is scheduled for June 16.

STAR CHEFS RASHEE RICE WILL FULLY PARTICIPATE IN TRAINING CAMP DESPITE NOW SUSPENSION, SAYS ANDY REID
The violation order immediately sends Rice to prison for the 30 days he was originally sentenced to within five years during his trial, rather than adding an additional 30 days. During last year’s trial, Rice also had to pay a total of $115,481.91 in restitution to the crash victims for their medical expenses.
With Rice in jail for the next 30 days, he will miss the remainder of the Chiefs’ OTAs (May 26-28 and June 1-3) and their mandatory minicamp June 9-11.
The breach was first discovered by Kansas City’s KSHB 41 News and confirmed by OutKick and PK Press Club.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS’ RASHEE RICE LINKED TO LAWSUIT OF EX-GIRLFRIEND ALLEGING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: REPORT
Neither the NFL nor the Kansas City Chiefs immediately responded to an email seeking comment.
But things could certainly get worse for Rice.
It is possible that this violation of his probation agreement could trigger a new investigation under the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
RASHEE RICE SUSPENDED SIX NFL GAMES
Rice served a six-game suspension for violating that policy last year in connection with his driving violation and trial.
Rice actually seemed uncomfortable with the suspension because it was a negotiated deal with the league. The NFL originally wanted Rice’s suspension to span a double-digit number of games, according to a source. Rice did not want to miss more than a month, according to a source, and the parties agreed to the deal before hearing officer Sue L. Robinson ruled on the matter.

A new investigation into the personal conduct policy could lead to Rice missing more games at the start of the 2026 regular season.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, have an obvious problem on their hands.

Rice, one of the team’s best receivers with 156 catches in his first three NFL seasons, proved he couldn’t be trusted to stay out of trouble. It’s possible the club could fine Rice for missing his mandatory minicamp.
Last year, Rice pleaded guilty to a charge of collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury – both third-degree felonies.
Rice was unavailable for comment Tuesday — because he is in jail.
