ISLAMABAD:
The federal government has made it mandatory for all civil servants to declare details of any dual nationality within 90 days, officially kicking off the implementation of the 2026 foreign nationality rules.
According to an office memorandum issued by the Establishment Division, the government has asked all public officials to submit a complete declaration regarding their citizenship status within the stipulated deadline.
Under the new framework which came into effect on June 1, a special declaration form related to dual nationality has been prepared and distributed to all relevant ministries, divisions and departments for compliance verification.
The memorandum states that all government officials and employees are now required to disclose full information regarding any foreign nationality, passport, permanent resident status or other foreign affiliation.
Additionally, officials were instructed to provide details on the citizenship and immigration status of their spouses and dependent children. The move aims to ensure greater transparency in the civil service and maintain official records of foreign affiliations.
The government has also made it mandatory for new civil service recruits to submit declarations relating to foreign nationality and immigration status at the time of their onboarding.
The office memorandum warns that any official or employee caught concealing facts or submitting false information will be subject to departmental action in accordance with relevant rules.
It further highlights that disclosure of participation in foreign immigration programs, travel documents and residence abroad is also mandatory.
Meanwhile, specific instructions have been issued to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officers, especially those working in Customs and Revenue, to submit their declaration forms by July 8.
